January’s Theme: Vino y Sangre

Wine is traditionally symbolic of socially constructed things: celebrations and ceremonies, class and culture, elegance in communication and conversation. It’s an art with finesse and attention to detail, and when done right, holds complexity and character in every sip. Wine is classic.

Blood, meanwhile, is all about power. It rushes and demands all of its own volition; there is nothing made but what it makes. It’s aggression and passion and force and instinct and it pushes you to work its will. It’s all emotion and best felt when its owner is out of control. Blood is fierce. Misplaced Missives #139 – Playing Cards – JG

 139. Playing Cards

Your honesty is only there when it suits you;
The attention I bet; the effort you neglect;
Their only reward is guilt and regret.

Maybe patience is only a matter of counting down and we’re not the only ones practicing it; maybe it’s always painful even under the guise of anticipation. Either way and in every way, it is crucial and it is common, like all of The Seven Virtues. Next up is… Continue reading “Theme for August 19: Work Hard, Play Hard”

Theme For August 12th – Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

“…Never had to knock on wood, but I know someone who has, which makes me wonder if I could…” Leave it to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones to create the song running through my head due to last week’s theme. It might be a bit premature to say this, but I think the soundtrack to the Seven Virtues is going to be a lot more lighthearted than that of its counterpart.
