Midnight Depression Collection Pt. V

Available

One phone call – two calls, three
How long can I ignore the screech?
How long ’til I join it in a scream?
I’m not available.
As I type this
My phone twitches from convulsions –
Even the inanimate
Can be burdened
With illness from the constant
Contact and calling…

Texting
Messaging
Emailing
and
Voicemails
Posts
Tweets
I tremble at the expectation.
I’m not available.
Even if I’m here
Even if I own a phone
Even if I have the time

Because I don’t.
Time has me
In a stranglehold
Of distorted perspectives
and
Encroaching obligations

Past, present, future
All beyond reach
Out of range
Without signal
It means so little
When its meaning
Is so brittle.
I’m not available.
Not by my own
Device.
But by random
Circumstantial
Misfortunate
Miscommunication.
