Saturday of Book Quoting – Lewis Black’s Me Of Little Faith

“And just what is a laugh? While it is as mysterious as music, I see laughter as a cosmic hiccup that allows us to stare into the abyss while we straddle the grave.”

Mauldin, yet uplifting? Maybe.

I should be more respectful of laughter and its sources; the absurd and the unexpected often yield hidden lessons that shouldn’t be ignored simply because of their kneejerk outcomes.

Lewis so concisely lists the best reasons to laugh. So easily places a fear of death alongside a curiosity of the unknown. They are twin terrors really… and if the choice is there, I wish to always pick to laugh over the impulse to cry. Less clean up afterwards.
