Misplaced Missive #203 – All The Colors That You Shine

Set in between my black heart and your white lies,
Grey eyed wisdom is overshadowed by extremes,
But I need: Some guidance, some advice,
‘Cause I do not know what is right.
I turn away and you tell me to stay,
I stay put and hate myself for being weak,
I don’t know where to find the answers I seek.

I’m being impersonated by a green gazed demon,
That looks startlingly familiar in the mirror.
I don’t know which version to believe in:
Who I was, invidiously envious,
Or who I wish to be, an improved me,
One who lives free and courageously.
But I’m still looking to you to depict me,
Still wishing you would have picked me.
And no one else.

My brown eyes never leave your side,
Hiding everything in their shades of ground and murk,
Obscured by all the pain and all the hurt.
Entrance to my soul, but nothing’s visible through all the dirt.
On my own, what is my worth?
What are my natural colors?

Set in between my black heart and your white lies,
Grey eyed wisdom is overshadowed by extremes,
But I need: Some guidance, some advice,
‘Cause I do not know what is right.
I turn away and you tell me to stay,
I stay put and hate myself for being weak,
I don’t know where to find the answers I seek.

Confusion has painted me blue,
Sadness turned me this terrible hue.
Maybe it’s only with someone new,
That my real colors will shine through.
