Misplaced Missive #53 – Nothing

God and I gave up
on each other a long time
ago.
So.
So it goes.

Nothing up high but sky,
Nothing down below but dirt,
I’ve learnt to trust in nothing.

‘He’s not there to catch your fall,
Because there’s no one out there at all.
It’s a well dressed lie; ’cause when you die,
There’ll be nothing, but the dark.
Same dark we know in our hearts,
Right from the start, everyone begins
As they end: in Nothing. Oblivion.

You wanna find comfort in mythology?
Filled to overflowing with hypocrisy?
Good Luck with those bad lies;
Evidence in short supply.
I wished and prayed and hoped
For a sign to solidify
My once concrete faith in the divine,
But I lost my way,
On a path chosen for me.
Dragged astray in trying to remain.
My wishes, prayers, hopes were made
Of empty air and finite patience,
So when they ran dry, I had to rely
On my research, logic, and proof.
And there’s no use pretending,
In the face of the obvious.

If God made everything,
Why did He make me an atheist?
Why did He make me question?
Why did He make the answers so hard to find?
If there is a God?
He gave up on me
Way before I gave up on Him.
So it goes.
And there it went.

Nothing up high but sky,
Nothing down below but dirt,
I’ve learnt to trust in nothing.

I’ve only begun to fall,
Only begun to fly.
So much nothing
to now explore,
gotta live more
Knowing there’s nothing
else in store.
So I have to go,
’cause there’s Nothing
Better
than the Beautiful world
around us. right. Now.
