Misplaced Missive #91 – Passion

All that passion needs some release.
Unable to keep it leashed,
I submit to the will of its own making
Changing into something
That I failed to control.

Too much emotion
disquieted ocean
Waves crash
and tides change
as fast my passion
becomes strange.
Something deranged;
Who is to blame?

How can I erase
Those feelings misplaced
and the empty space
You dug into me?

I once wanted
To give chase.
Place my everything
Into something
That means nothing.

Nothing can stay the same,
The way I once was.
Was pathetic, weak.
And now the strength I seek,
Is born of passion too.
In a new form, it’s true,
But I’m still passionate because of you.

Too much emotion
disquieted ocean
Waves crash
and tides change
as fast my passion
becomes strange.
Something deranged;
Who is to blame?

A/N: This is tied to a quote by Mary Shelley from Frankenstein. The monster says:

“There is love in me the likes of which you’ve never seen. There is rage in me the likes of which should never escape. If I am not satisfied in the one, I will indulge the other.”

…honestly? Much of what he so poetically said inspired the above. I vividly enjoyed reading Frankenstein in high school, and it definitely stuck with me into later years. I think many who grew up religious, but eventually found their faith to be flawed can relate to the idea of such a  creator.
