Free Verse – Lust – JG

Hell Hound’s Howl

Can tasting of your body
Satisfy my ravenous craving
For your spirit?
In the rapid race of my heart
(Can you hear it?)
Keeping the pace of a predator,
Sanity and stability and solid foundations
Of hesitations and reservations and realizations…
Get run over and passed through.
I’ve left:
Paw prints on practicality;
Muddy indents on reality;
Grass stains and broken twigs on morality.

There is beast in me.
That sees a feast in you.
So if it pleases you,
Trust that lust will lead to love.

Bury your doubts
And hear this hell hound’s howl
For all that it’s bounding towards.
Set the path I’ve passed ablaze,
‘Til there’s nothing but ash left of the decay.
I’m pursuing the best, so leave all of the rest:
Steer me around the curves, the ridges, the edges.
Let me passed all your best defenses –
I won’t settle for just a taste.
It’d be a waste not to spend the rest of my days,
Making haste your way.
Following your body to your soul.

There is beast in me.
That sees a feast in you.
So if it pleases you,
Trust that lust will lead to love.
